Business model innovation (BMI) refers to the process of rethinking how businesses create, deliver, and capture value. Start-ups, which often operate in uncertain environments, rely heavily on innovative business models to differentiate themselves and remain competitive (Oluwasegun & Hassan, 2023). In regions like Zamfara State, where start-ups face unique challenges such as limited funding, market instability, and infrastructural gaps, BMI can be a critical driver of survival and growth.
Studies by Adamu and Yusuf (2024) emphasize that start-ups with flexible and innovative business models are more likely to adapt to changing market conditions and withstand external shocks. In Zamfara State, however, many start-ups lack the resources and knowledge required to implement BMI effectively, limiting their potential for long-term success.
This study examines the relationship between business model innovation and start-up survival in Zamfara State, identifying the key factors that influence their success.
